Wellness expert Dr. Renuka David shares her opinion on the importance of preventive healthcare
“SUCCESS IS HAPPINESS. TO BE HAPPY ONE HAS TO BE SUCCESSFUL AND CONTENT”
The first thing that crosses our minds when we face serious health issues is surgery. After all, we hear so much about laser treatment and other sophisticated surgeries in the field of medicine that we stay blissfully unaware of the negative impact a surgery might have upon us on a later stage of our lives.
This may sound grim, but thankfully there lies much optimism which is reflected by Dr. Renuka’s opinion. It’s the simple old formula, that is – Prevention is better than cure.
Dr.Renuka has been a strong proponent of preventive healthcare as a means of achieving healthy lifestyle amongst the various sections of our society. She has also hosted wellness programmes on 104.8 FM Chennai Live. Speaking to her audience on Radiant Wellness Conclave, Dr. Renuka presented a set of grim facts that bring our attention to the deteriorating health conditions. Lifestyle changes are responsible for the sudden increase in non-communicable but deadly diseases like tuberculosis, cancer, diabetes and heart problems. 51 percent of Indians are affected by heart problems and many die due to its severity. This puts India only second to the USA and China, which is a worrisome trend indeed. Dr.Renuka is dedicated to creating awareness about the importance of preventing such diseases by focusing on the 8 dimensions of lifestyle and wellness (Physical, Financial, Intellectual, Environmental, Emotional, Spiritual, Occupational, Social). She firmly believes that curing a disease can be best avoided by preventing the disease to occur in the first place.
